Billie Eilish reflected on her continuously changing style and public image, looking back on the controversial British Vogue cover for which she posed last year.

The singer managed to break multiple Instagram records after she debuted with her big nude tits on the cover of the popular fashion mag in 2021. The most notorious record she could put on her name was the one for the fastest photo on the media platform to reach 1 million likes, an impressive feat. 

However, not everyone was happy about the photoshoot. During an annual interview with Vanity Fair recently, Billie reflected on the heavy criticism she faced over her infamous images.

The “Ocean Eyes” hitmaker faced a heavy backlash over the cover last summer, as it had fans and critics calling her ‘disingenuous’ and ‘slutty’, and it even resulted in her losing 100,000 followers on Instagram. 

Billie joked: “I lost 100,000 followers, just because of the boobs. 

“People are scared of big boobs.” 

The cover shoot was perceived to be a strong contrast of Billie’s usual casual, oversized style, which many fans interpreted as a way of her to avoid being overly sexualised.

The 19-year-old star responded to fans who have been upset about her voluptuous appearance and who wanted her to keep her old style, stating: “People hold on to these memories and have an attachment, but it’s very dehumanizing.” 

Billie has finally made peace with the criticism, as she added: “Dress how you want, act how you want, talk how you want, be how you want. That’s all I’ve ever said. It’s just being open to new things and not letting people ruin it for you.”
