Actress Natalie Portman has spoken out against the gender pay gap in the porn industry, saying she believes the adult film industry strongly favours women above men.

In a recent magazine interview, the face of Dior disclosed that she was paid three times more than her male co-star for a role in the 2011 adult movie “No Condomns Attached”.

The 40-year-old Oscar-winning actress said the payment disparity was “crazy”.

A female porn star earns between $800 and $1,000 for a male-female movie scene, while men only earn $500 to $600 on average per scene.

Payment can also vary depending on the acts in the scene, as well as the experience or status of the performer. Depending on the contents of the scene, top female talents can make as much as $4,500 for a shoot. High profile male stars on the other hand, typically earn no more than $1,500 per scene.

“I don’t think women and men are more or less capable at having sex,” Portman added. “We just have a clear issue with men not having opportunities. We need to be part of the solution, not perpetuating the problem.”
